If you are overweight, it is not a crime to be heavyset. However, if you are planning to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle, here are some tips to help you reach your goals.
Set a Realistic Goal
In targeting an ideal weight, remember the SMART rule. You must set a specific goal for you to aim and get yourself motivated. This goal should also be measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bounded.
A great target goal for you to start with is aiming for weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds per week. Then eventually, target a higher goal and exert more effort in order to achieve it.
Avoid and Quit Your Vices
The most important factor to achieving your desired weight is to change your lifestyle!
As much as possible, throw away or limit all your vices such smoking and alcohol drinking. Reducing or abstaining from your vices will greatly contribute to a speedy weight loss and get your health better.
Follow a Healthy Diet
It is wise to first consult a dietician whenever you plan to lose weight. These experts will help you choose an appropriate diet plan that is suitable for your activities, health and weight.
Be sure to follow all of their recommended meals and diet courses so you will have an effective weight loss experience.
Watch Your Weight
Keep a diary or a monitoring book and weigh yourself every day.
Keeping track of your weight is an essential part of the entire weight loss course. It measures on how effective and efficient your weight loss activities are. Plus, it will make you feel good about yourself to know how much progress you’ve been doing and give you more incentive to keep up the good work.
Increase Your Water Intake
Increasing your water intake up to 3 liters each day can contribute to a higher metabolism rate. Higher metabolism rate indicates faster fat and muscle burning.
Better drink up and get yourself hydrated all the time especially when you are doing a strenuous activity.
Join a Support Group
Joining an online or on-site support group will make you feel comfortable about your self-image.
You can also discuss your problems and certain issues about your current health dilemma and weight issues with them.
These groups and circles of people will truly understand the way you feel. You can share stories – either success or failures. You can even find a friend or a gym buddy and you can help each other in reaching both of your goals.
Stay Positive and Keep Going
Losing weight cannot happen overnight. It never will!
It will take a surmountable amount of time and effort in order to achieve it. If you feel like losing weight already has taken you forever, keep your hopes and faith up!
Stay positive and keep those diet and activities going. Get yourself motivated and look back to your progress. You’ll realize your efforts and how far you’ve come.
Sleep
Sleep is a vital and a basic need of every human. Without it, you will be powerless and less productive at life.
Good sleep promotes better metabolism. Get plenty of rest and if you’re not then try to adjust your sleeping habits.
Target at least 6-8 hours of sleep a day so you will have sufficient energy to perform activities of daily living and Exercises.
Skipping Breakfast Does Not Do Any Good
People often skip breakfast due to tight schedules. It is the most important meal of the day.
Skipping it makes you feel lousy and less energetic. You work or studying might be affected. In addition, skipping this meal will only contribute to slower metabolism and digestion rate.
Don’t Overdo It.
If you are just starting to take a diet course and exercise programs, remember to keep it easy. Have a steady activity and program at an appropriate pace. Overdoing it may cause harm to your health. Start small and end up with bigger achievements.
